Passport Requirements in Indonesia

Indonesia has strict entry requirements, and foreigners who fail to meet them may be detained and fined. A valid passport, a ticket to your next destination, and proof of health insurance are all needed for entry.

The passport requirement in Indonesia varies by country and purpose of travel, but the general rule is that it must be valid for at least 6 months beyond the date of arrival. It must also have two fully blank pages ready to be stamped by the immigration officer on entering Indonesia. This is a strict requirement and border agents regularly deny entry to travelers for failing to comply with it.

Citizens of a large number of countries do not need a visa to enter Indonesia for up to 30 days for tourism purposes, but they must present their passport and a round-trip or onward ticket to immigration officers at the airport upon arrival. The list of eligible countries includes Brunei Darussalam, Chile, Hong Kong SAR, Macau SAR, Malaysia, Morocco, Peru, Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Those traveling on business to Indonesia may be able to obtain a visitor's visa online. However, you will need a letter from an employer to support your application, and you must have an eligible passport that is valid for at least six months after arriving in Indonesia perpanjangan paspor.

To make the application process easier, we recommend getting your passport renewed at least 8 weeks prior to departure. Expedited renewals are available but come with additional charges.

In order to get a passport in Indonesia, you must apply for one through the government. You can do this online, or you can visit the Embassy in person.

Once you have all of the required documents, you must attend a visa interview at the Embassy. The interview is only a short Q&A session, but it's a good idea to be prepared for it. You'll need to have a recent photograph taken, and you may be asked to provide fingerprints as well.

You must also bring proof of a valid passport and a valid ticket to return or onward travel in order to obtain a visa at the Embassy. If you are unable to provide these documents, your application will be rejected and you may be required to leave the country immediately.
